It depends on who made the 6146W and when. The 6146W varied with time.
Early it was a good 6146A, and later some made it from a 6146B and some
didn't.
Either will work a long time at the original 6146 ratings, which will
preserve the PA tank components in the transmitter. Running a pair of
6146B fully to their limits will increase your signal maybe 2 dB, (less
than the variation in propagation losses over seconds), and more than
double the heat dissipated in the tank coil, switch contacts, and
loading padding capacitors. The switch, especially may be nearly
impossible to replace once smoked.
