Dan, I installed a 707A in my Cherokee about a month ago.
I've been extremely pleased. The installation was very
straightforward, though -- no real tricks. Obviously, you
should make sure that you get the right kit and that the
cables will be long enough -- Kenwood makes 3 different kits
with varying length cables, and not all kits include all
cables. The mounting bracket for the control head is a
strange little thing that can be put together in about as
many combinations as Rubik's cube -- I mounted the bracket
to the dash with the 'super lock' velcro-like two-part
fastening material rather than drilling holes, and it has
worked perfectly. The bracket and head don't weigh much of
anything. My only other suggestion would be to think about
not making it too hard to remove the radio itself when you
want to reprogram it or use it out of the vehicle.
I really didn't want a dual band rig, and I didn't want to
spend that much on it. I just wanted a cheap 2m radio, but
I really like this radio and have not thought twice about
the extra $150 or so since I got it into the vehicle.
