[Kenwood] TS-940S Display Problem ?

Hi Gang !
My 940s (9 mill serial #) is on the fritz.
The display has gone completely black....all functions on the radio still
work fine....I've checked everything.
Frequency can be input by the keypad, and vfo still works (you just dont
know where you are).
Transmit and receive are both ok.

I suspect the DC-DC board (X46-1030-00) underneath the speaker assembly as
I've tried substituting
a replacement display tube and Digital C board that is known to be good and
still no joy.

My question is.....are there any components on the DC-DC board that would be
suspect
or have given problems to other owners in the past ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated !!
