[Kenwood] RTTY on the TS-2000

Hello All,

I apologize for being a pest on the list but I really do need to resolve
this question in my mind.  I am a blind ham and have a friend coming over
tonight to help me solder cables for my new TS-2000.  One of the projects is
to modify a cable I previously used with my Kam TNC and an Icom 746 to work
with the 2000.

Here is my dilemma.  When I had this cable wired for the Icom, it was set up
for AFSK from the Kam so I had to use lsb on the Icom to send and receive
rtty signals.  However, the Icom itself actually went to true fsk when you
switched to rtty on the mode setting.  However, I never got around to having
the cable resoldered to use fsk from the Kam.  The fact that the 2000 has
settings in the menus for fsk shift, keying polarity and so on leads me to
believe that it also has true fsk rather than afsk for rtty and related
modes.  Yet, when I speak with Kenwood, they say it goes to afsk when you
set rtty on the mode switches.

Can someone please enlighten me on this one so I can tell my friend how to
wire the Kam cable?  I asked about this last night from my home address and
if someone answered me there before I signed up here at work, I apologize in
advance.  However, this is bothering me and I would like to get an answer
before tonight.
