[Kenwood] TS-850 Display Problem

Dear Kenwood list,
The entire display on my TS-850S/AT started going intermittent a couple of days ago, and now is completely dark.  I can still receive and transmit OK.  Is there a quick fix for this?  I bought it new, and this is the first problem I've had.  I tried turning off, and back on, etc., but to no avail.  Over the past year, sometimes when I turned it on, the display would take a few seconds to come on.  

Any help would be appreciated.  I also need a service manual.
