[Kenwood] Interfacing a Motorola desk mic to a Kenwood 742-A

Help me out here guys, I seem to be drawing a blank.

I am trying to interface a Motorola Desk Mic to my Kenwood TM-742.

My question is, since it is an electret microphone, do I have to provide
additional power to it, or can I simply connect MIC HI and MIC LO to the Mic
High and Mic Gnd on the 742?

It doesn't seem to work when I try that.  

What am I missing?
