Hi All,
Still looking for help with this cable. Anyone own an R-820 that can help with the
information sought?
Well I finally found the 16 pin Hirose connector needed to build up a transceive cable
for my TS-820 to R-820 connection. I have one problem though. The R-820 manuals
indicates what wiring changes are needed for the TS-820 side, but neither of my R-820
manuals (op or Maint) provides a pin-to-pin connection diagram or table for the cable
itself. All they indicate is the cable was standard with the R-820!
So my request. If anyone out there has one of these cables (16-pin hirose connector
on R-820 side and 9-pin round connector on TS-820 side) I would very much appreciate a
connector-to-connector connection table. This would require an ohm meter check which
would tell that pin 1 of the 9-pin connector went to pin X of the 16 pin connector and
so on. Basically it would require only 9 checks that correspond to the smaller
connectors pin out. Hopefully there are no pin-to-pin jumpers internal to the 16 pin
connector or that one wire is branched off to two pins on the 16 pin side. I guess a
check under the covers of the 16 pin connector would reveal jumpers.
I would surely appreciate the help folks. Could guess the connections, but would
probably mess up a couple of them. I have been able to figure out what some of the 16
pin connections do, but not all of them. Plus, Kenwood may have designed that
connector to perform other funtions as well as the TS-820 transceive work. Often
there are some of these design-ins that never end up getting used in the final
products.
Thanks es 73
