[Kenwood] re TS-830S problems

I have a friend who has a TS-830S and keeps blowing the rf transistor in the
front end of the receiver. There was an upgrade from 3SK73GR to 3SK77GR but
the problem is still there. Apparently there isn't any protection to it such
as grounding of the input when going to transmit. He also lost the rf amp
when he lost a tube in the Clipperton amp which he drives with the
transceiver. Is there any mods out there to cure this problem?  Best of 73's
