If it's a nut-and-bolt arrangement, and you have a little vertical clearance
on the nut side, check out some Concentric nuts. They have a nylon ring
embedded in the end of the nut, into which you cut threads when you force the
screw through. They work very well on constantly-vibrating vehicles, in my
experience. They are, however, a "tighten-once" device - you won't get nearly
the hold out of them if you attempt to use them a second time...

some de-natured alcohol and a q-tip to clean that 
contact surface.  Over time, whatever is in the air
or on the fingers (oil) will make its way there in
minute amounts and causes some intermittent contacts.
When you use the alcohol, it removes the culprit while
immediately drying with no residue - hence the 
recommendation of the de-natured type.
