[Kenwood] TS711A tone after Xmit

Hi everyone,

I have a very strange problem with a TS711A. It gets a tone of about 800Hz
on both the transmit signal and receive signal after keying our local FM
repeater. On receive the tone is only present when a signal is actually
there. When there is just noise (i.e. squelch open but no received signal)
the tone is not present but as soon as the repeater keys up the 800Hz tone
will be there.

The tone will dissappear if I move frequencies - i.e. go to another channel
and come back - until I transmit again.

It does not appear in any other mode (i.e. SSB/CW) only FM and does not
appear in FM simplex mode.

Moreover it does not seem to appear if I use FM in split frequency mode.
That is if I go to a channel adjacent to our local repeater and place my
havedheld in reverse repeater operation I can communicate with the handheld
without the tone appearing.

Even if I simulate a repeater by holding the handheld on Xmit so there is a
signal when the TS711A goes over to receive the fault does not appear.

I am stumped.

This is a strange fault that I have never heard of before. If anyone has
heard of this or similar fault please let me know.
