[Kenwood] TS-940S Power Supply Modification?

I'm working on a 940 that I acquired from an estate.  The previous owner 
appears to have been into modifications.

There is a small very home-brew looking board stuffed in the top of the rig 
adjacent to the power supply.  It looks like it might be a crowbar.

Anyone seen this before?  It's sort of an ugly looking modification and I'd 
like to restore the rig to normal.
