[Kenwood] Battery pack

I opened the case for my TH-27A battery. It was sealed with no screws
but there's a visible seam. I used a small hammer (maybe 8 ounce) and a
small vice as an anvil and tapped along the seam all the way around
numerous times until I cracked the glue, then the case separated with a
combination of screw driver prying in the crack and more tapping and
flexing from the hammer taps. I found that the case was very snug to the
nicad cells and one layer of Scotch #33 to hold things together before I
assembled the case was almost too much to allow closing the case.
There's a circuit breaker in the middle of the assembly to complicate
the replacements of the cells. Replace the whole batch, maybe send the
old lump with all its appurtenances of contacts and circuit breaker to a
place that assembles custom battery packs, like Digi-Key and ask them to
move the contacts and circuit breaker to the new pack. They can assemble
the pack with welded straps that take a lot less room than the solder
lugs.
