[Kenwood] FS: Kenwood R5000 -- fully loaded!!

For Sale:  Kenwood R5000 general coverage receiver

This is an outstanding receiver with a full complement of
features (IF shift, notch filter, dual clocks, timer, dual
noise blankers, etc) with typical Kenwood clear as a bell
audio.

It also has the VS-1 speech enunciator which reads out the
frequency, mode, etc. when changed or on command.

It also has the IC-10 which are necessary for computer
control of the receiver (also requires the IF-232C
interface/level converter which isn't included).

The really outstanding feature of this receiver -- and what
sets it apart -- are the cascaded filters.  This has the
upgraded, high quality AM filter (YK-88A-1), the SSB filter
(YK-88S), the SSB narrow filter (YK-88SN), and the 500 hz CW
filter (YK-88C).  As each succeeding filter is switched in,
the preceding filters are cascaded, giving outstanding
selectivity.  The selectivity can be switched automatically
or manually. (The original AM filter is also included, but
is not installed in the radio -- it was replaced with the
YK-88A-1.)

The radio is in very excellent condition with no glaring or
major scratches, dents or dings.  It is at least an
8.5+/10.  The only "defects" are that the S meter light is
out (an easy repair -- I just never needed it) and the tilt
up bail is missing.  I had this receiver in a rack mount
setup (it sat on a shelf) that required removing the bail
and have misplaced it.

Included are the a.c. power cord, the carry handle, a good
copy of the manual, a good copy of the IC-10 manual, a good
copy of the service manual and a copy of a handbook for
improving the R5000 (I haven't made any of the mods).

This is a fine receiver and will give much SWL/Ham/MW
listening enjoyment.
