[Kenwood] TM-V7A Display.

It's a fairly common problem that the displays are fairly flakey on this
radio, but the problem is usually a completely off display or several
vertical or horizontal lines which go blank. Sometimes this is temperature
related, sometimes it is contact related, sometimes, it hasn't been solved.

First of all, make sure that the backlight was not purposefully dimmed in
the display menu and that it is not on "auto dim".

Remove the remote head and try cleaning the contacts.

Suggestion:
There is a voice synthesizer for this radio. Part #VS-3 and it's only $40
(another nice thing about Kenwood, an inexpensive voice synthesizer that
works on a lot of their radios).

Please let us know what happens.

Subject: [Kenwood] TM-V7A Display.

Greetings.
A Whitecaner Friend of mine has a Kenwood TM-V7A transceiver that he is
using as a base
unit and the display on the it has now gotten so dim that his wife is having
difficulty
reading it for him.
What causes this and can it be corrected?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.
