Dear Reflectees,

first of all let me thank all of you who replied to my call for help
concerning the TS 940 S. I am very much impressed by both the knowledge and
the willingness to share information on this reflector!

There were several responses which pointed out that in fact the problem I
have described does not necessarily indicate it's a digital unit problem,
but rather a lock/unlock failure of one of the VCO-ICs in the PLL unit.
K8BUX was kind enough to supply a longer summary of measuring parameters,
so in case anyone needs those, too, pse let me know and I'll send them
along.

In addition, several people recommended the excellent service offered by
Clif at AVVid, which in my case would definately be a choice of 'ultima
ratio' as sending the rig back and forth between the US and DL ist not very
practical. However, for those of you in the US this might be a good
alternative (ok, usual disclaimer: I don't have any business connection with
Clif, but still I do think it makes sense to share information where good
service is available these days).

I also appreciate that Jose, EB5AGV, who has some experience with repairing
Kenwood radios offered to have a look at mine, too. Now that's ham-spirit,
tnx Jose!

At this time, I have decided to give it a try and have a look at the PLL
unit myself.

Once again, sincere tnx to the following individuals who responded (hpe this
list is complete): EB5AGV, G3JVC, HK3BZO, K1ZOK, K5WSC, K8BUX, KA5IPF,
KB6BSN, SM3DVN, W2KBR, W8GND, WB4MLE, SP8SW, YO9FZS/p
