[Kenwood] TS-50 Problem

I've run into an odd problem with my TS-50 that perhaps someone has seen
before.
Without warning, the received signal will become noisy and garbled, as if
one of the PLL's unlocked. Moving the VFO as little as 5 KHz stops the
problem. And, the problem seems to occur only on certain frequencies. I
do have the problem on 14300, but if I move up to 14305 it stops. And as
near as I can tell, it happens on all bands. It has done it once on
transmit, after which I removed it from the car and put it on the bench.
So far, I can't find anything wrong with any of the VCO's. A slight
pressure on the PLL board in the vicinity of the 55 MHz test point will
stop the problem. I've had the board out a number of times looking for bad
solder joints, and all the mounting screws are tight. Part of the PLL
board is impossible to get at because the Digital board covers a
substantial portion of the board.
If anyone has seen this before I'd appreciate a hint or poke in the right
direction.
