Hello All
I have a Kenwood R-5000 (is there any other kind ;-) that I NEED to put an
AGC 'disable' switch into. I read somewhere that the 'usual' procedure is
to open the connection to (I believe) capacitor C111, removing the RF signal
from the AGC circuit. This is done with a mini relay. (I'd have to check
the schematic to confirm it's actually C111).

Question 1: Is this the Only, best or just the most common method of
disabling AGC? Has anyone found a different or perhaps better method?

Question 2: I intend to switch the AGC off using one of the front panel
switches I don't use. For me the most likely candidate is the NB2 switch.
Originally designed for the 'woodpecker' this switch doesn't appear to be
usefull for any modern day noise. HAS ANYONE ever found instances where the
NB2 was usefull for noise reduction (other than woodpecker)?
