[Kenwood] TS-950SDX T/R switching problem

My 950SDX has an intermittant problem switching from receive to transmit.
Very occassionally (i.e. 1 in 300 receive-to-transmit switches), the 950
fails to completely switch into transmit. The receiver mutes, but there is
no sidetone, monitor, power output, amplifier relay switching. This happens
in both CW and SSB. The most "interesting" symptom is that the power
meter/S-meter bar remains "stuck", showing the last received S-meter reading
(but the S-meter reading does not change - it stays stuck until returning to
receive). If the 950 had a T/R relay, I would suggest it has a dirty
contact, but I believe it's all electronic switching.

For the casual operator, the rarity of this event may not seem like a big
deal, but for a serious contester, where the T/R switching occurs thousands
of times during a contest, it's really annoying to be calling somebody and
see there is no power output. The rarity also makes it impossible to
debug - It would be a lot easier if it would fail completely.

Suggestions ?
