[Kenwood] SECOND TRY FOR TS870 SETTINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

OM;  Please go to my web page and download/copy/view my Kenwood Spreedsheet
for the 870s.  Also many other items for the 870 user.  I spent over 2 years
gathering this information so that others wouldn't have to go through what I
did to learn how to operate this magnificent transceiver.

If you have one of the older 870s you will have a few problems with the 870s
due to the IMD section.  I sent my 870s in before the warranty expired and
they replaced all of the necessary chips, chip resistors and firmware under
warranty.  The newer 870s's have this upgrade in them.  ASt the same time I
had them modify my external receiver connector for use with a beverage
antenna.  That way I can have the beverage or receive antenna connected all
the time but use menu 53 to turn it on and off.  In the off position you use
your transmit antenna for tx and rx  In the On position, you transmit with
the tx ant and rx with the external receive antenna that is connected.
