[Kenwood] VFO Question

I was wondering is it possible to use a function generator as an external
VFO on some of these older radios? I have a DC-15MHz very stable modern
generator that can put out 50mV-20V RMS into 50 Ohms. Would help to
increase the stability of older rigs? There are probably different offsets
that have to be calculated out, but that's not a problem as long as it can
generate the signal within its frequency range.
TIA
Roy
