[Kenwood] TS2000 Bad FM XMIT Audio

I just bought a TS 2000.  This is a great radio and  compares some with
my 1000MP w/inrad mods.  The problem is I get bad audio reports on 2
meter FM.
I have tried all the menu settings for the audio but still get
restricted aud  reports.  By the way, this is not a hard radio to
configure with the menu and Function settings as I 
had heard from some hams.  The different sections and levels on the
front face are very ergonomically thought out.  Its just that the radio
sounds bad on 2 meter FM.
Any ideas ??  I can't even use it on the local simplex frequency because
of some reports and that's one reason I got the radio to use the extra
VHF rcvr/xmitter while
Monitoring other HF frequencies.   It sounds great  in the monitor mode
with headphones after I adjusted the audio  but the bad reports
continue. No distortion , just restricted audio.   Any help would be
