I have use the series resonance effect to run a 240 volt induction motor
fan on 120 volts. It took a little care in sneaking up on the proper
value so as to not apply excess voltage to the motor. I'd consider the
current of a 24 volt fan to be unreasonably high for using a dropping
reactance from 120 volts. I'm not ready to predict a series resonance
problem with every motor, but its something to check.
I add the copyright notice because three times last year I was published
in books without my knowledge until I bought the books. If I had
submitted to those proceedings, I'd have received the books in
compensation. So the illegal copies for publication COST me money. I'll
not change soon.
I've found in many forums that not showing some credentials leads to
having to prove every statement three times.
