[Kenwood] TS570S(G)

I have recently gotten a TS570S(g) which is a very 
nice radio except for one thing - the absence of a
functioning noise blanker.  I even sent an Email to
Kenwood about it and to date no response.  Is this
a normal occurance?  Are there any remedies to
the problem?  My noise blanker does nothing on
line noise nor on ignition noise (neighborhood cars).
It would be a useless radio were it not for the NR2 
position.
This may have been addressed previously but as I
am new to both the list and radio, thought I would
ask.
