[Kenwood] 870 Surge Absobers

Recently had some recieve problems with my 870 and was advised by Cliff
that I was looking in the wrong place for the problem...Did get the
bulbs changed and seems to have fixed the receive ok now...When I
started this project I removed the surge absobers on the board right by
the antenna imputs....Don't quit understand what these things are but
looking at the schematic seem to be some kind of zener diodes....Cant
get enough voltage out of volt ohm meter to get any kind of reading on
these tho...Is it possible that I have installed them backwards as every
time I now try to transmit the radio shuts down on me..Any help on this
one will be greatly appreciated.......Thanks
