Just a note about this (a caution?)  I have been through the BC DX'ing 
and SW DX'ing kick with my TS 440 and 940.  I lived in a suburban (RF 
crowded) area.  I had a 450 foot loop around my house.  I really 
suffered from overload, it was really amazing.  The 440 would "fold up" 
from a local BC station after the BC attenuator was taken out of the 
circuit.  Maybe you all know this, just wanted to state the obvious for 
any who haven't been there.  All is not lost, a tuner in line mostly 
solved the problem, use of the attenuator on the front panel can help 
too.  (I had modified my 440 so that the internal tuner was in the 
receive circuit when engaged, made all the difference in the world!)
