[Kenwood] TS-830S Power Reqt Question

Hello All --

Tks for many helpful posts on the TS-50S mobile!  I have a
question about the TS-830S.  According to the specs, it
needs 295w on transmit...I assume that's for 100w out.  At
120v nominal, that's abt 2.5 amps (295/120).  Am I missing
something?  That doesn't sound right.  (I note that rx w/
heater off it draws only 32w?)

Where am I going with this?  I could run one of these off a
300w inverter in a vehicle...doesn't sound right.  (FWIW,
the inverter in question is supposedly good for 500w
surges.)

Any thoughts appreciated!
