Bob,
I, like you, am a CW-guy and love my old TS930SAT (SN 310xxxx). My
digital Board went south and the frequency display went crazy about 3
years ago. Kenwood Repair wouldn't touch it. With nothing to lose, I
resoldered all the thru-board "Z" wires, and got it going again for about
a year until it failed again. At that point it was a new radio or a
PIEXX board. The latter was most cost-effective. I didn't need the
computer control or the many other added features the PIEXX provides --
just a reliable digital board.
Bought the PIEXX board 2 years ago. The installation was easy and very
well documented, the performance has been excellent, and some of its
"unneeded" features are nice. It has certainly given my "perfect" CW rig
a new lease on life!
