Rather than gumming it up with silicone tuner cleaner inside, why not
use a quality oil, like electric motor oil, or turntable lubricant,
maybe white grease on the gears and bearings inside. Apply sparingly
with a toothpick, not blobs or spray. Not WD-40 that's kerosine with a
propellant, only a very short and then poor quality lubricant.
