Hey, Clif....
Thanks as always for the assistance/response. Beats me. At the time
I experienced the offset deal, I read all the relative specifications. When
I posted on the reflector, I received several responses from others who had
experienced like offsets when installing the filters, and no responses from
anyone who had made the substitutions without experiencing the offset ditty.
I resolved the immediate problem by selling the transceiver after noting the
offset ditty. The new owner promptly smoked the unit while configuring it
for PSK, sent it off to Kenwood West, and we are awaiting their response
regarding the cause of the offset.
Imposing further upon your good humor and patience, perhaps you could
(or might choose to) enlighten us as to what we all might have done wrong,
during the installation process, that could have caused the offset problem.
I followed the steps as detailed in the TS-430S instruction manual (clipping
of two resistors), and the only deviation was using the YK-88A-1 filter
instead of the YK-88A. Some might recall that this particular transceiver
had the additional (a fifth filter) Fox-Tango SSB filter/InRad board combo
wired in.
Thank you again for your past contributions, and I look forward to
your continuing generosity, patience and good will to all of us klutzes on
the reflector. Sincere 73 to you and yours.
