[Kenwood] PSK31 and TS2000

Folks,

I'm a new owner of a TS2000 (upgraded from a TS520), having fun with all the
new bands/modes available to me now. One thing I've recently tried is PSK31,
but have had problems.

Receive is fine - connecting the ACC2 pin 3 (ref ground pin 4) into my laptop
(Dell C400 running WinPSKse) microphone port, I can see lots of QSOs and can
monitor just about anything I can see.

Transmit, however, is not working. Computer speaker (well, headphone)
out is
connected to ACC 2 pin 11 (ref pin 12 gnd), but no response to signal there.
It won't trigger the VOX, and if I manually hit the 'send' button, there's
no indication of ALC or power output.

I've scoped the audio on ACC 2 pin 11, and it's there OK (hmm - forgot
to see
what the Vpp level actually was), I've checked menu 50B for the AF input level,
tried various settings there, to no avail. I'm running out of ideas.

Can anyone think of anything I've forgotten? Some menu setting that affects
the mic input on the ACC 2 plug, perhaps? Does anyone know the appropriate
signal level required at the mic input of the ACC 2 plug? I've not wired a
PTT control yet, but I can't even get transmission when I manually key up,
so I doubt a PTT circuit would help. (Otherwise the rig works fine, so its
probably not a malfunction, just operator error of some kind).


On a side note:

I was checked into a local 2M FM net using my TS2000, and had made a few
comments early in the net. Nobody knew me there, and nobody knew I had a new
rig. Some time later, people were helping one guy who had poor audio,
when a
one of them made an out-of-the-blue comment "...Wow, that KI8AB has the
GREATEST audio we've heard on this net in a LONG time!"

You can imagine how good I felt about my new radio. :)
