I'm heading out for Long Beach, CA on vacation to visit with our daughter
and her husband in Long Beach. While there my wife and I were planning to
spend an evening aboard the Queen Mary's hotel accomadation. K0RU would get
a chance to operate the Queen Mary Amateur Radio Station for a period of 3
hours while his wife would enjoy the Spa/Message accomadations onboard the
Queen Mary.
In an attempt to see what kind of schedule was available aboard the Queen
Mary for operating period, the Curator for the Queen Mary Amateur Radio
Station was told that I would be wanting to operate CW from aboard the Queen
Mary and I desired to obtain an operating time position from there available
slots on their calendar. I explained that I was a CW operator and that I
would bring my own key and keyer if necessary and that I operated high speed
CW 40 - 50 wpm and was curious what type of equipment they had onboard and
if they would send me some photos of the Queen Mary's Amateur Radio Station
Setup.
They sent photos, and along with the photos I got this comment.

I'm not sure on CW speed but it would haft to be at a speed that the Control
Operator can copy at to understand the conversation. some of our operators
have no code tickets and this includes myself. If a no code Control Operator
is the only one on shift then you could not operate CW. If that's is your
preferred method or communications then we might have a problem. There are
some operators that only operate CW but I not sure which ones they are.

Hmmm, DumdeeDumDum.
I offered myself as a control operator to over see the stations operation
(FCC has no limitation wheather I'm the control op or John Wayne be the
control op, just as long as the log book is signed that I'm the control op
for that period and was responsible for all transmissions etc.) However as
it stands I've not received any replys.
I've sent a couple request to some FOC members in the area to see if
possibly one of them maybe a member of the Queen Mary's Amateur Radio Club
or not to see if they would like to be a control op for a few hours. Guess I
will see where that goes.
NO CW, guess No Queen Mary stop.
