Hey Bob, how about forwarding this to the newsletter editor - I
couldn't get in...

Wow.... reading that the Netherlands Antilles is to be no more....
Back in 1963, fresh out of Radioman "A" school, I was assigned to
COMTRAPAC COMMUNICATIONS at the Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Center in
San Diego, CA, where we had a CW circuit (net) on 4335 kcs... as the
passband of our Navy RBC receivers was wide enough, and as the BFO
control was turned the right way, we'd hear commercial station "PJC"
in the Netherlands Antilles on late night "midwatches". PJC was on
4334 kcs, and in addition to a RTTY signal on 4337 kcs, you'd always
hear PJC's calls in the background.... VVV VVV VVV DE PJC PJC PJC QSX

>From San Diego to San Francisco, from Guam Island to Vietnam, if you
listened closely, you could always hear PJC - it was like an old
friend. They were on the air until about 1995 I think, as I finally
wrote to them about my "friendship", and got a QSL card from the Chief
Op. They went to all digimodes in past years, and only the RTTY
signal remains on 4337, the CW having been replaced with SITOR, I
think.
So now.... farewell PJ prefix. I knew you "when"...
