We need your help; we are calling on other hams to please assist us. The
2011 ARRL Arizona State Convention, held in conjunction with the Yuma
Hamfest & Emergency Preparedness Show, is Friday and Saturday, February 18-19,
2011 at the Yuma County Fairgrounds in Yuma, Arizona. Now in its seventh
year, the Yuma Hamfest is a traditional amateur radio convention and trade
show that also features products and displays about disaster preparedness.
We hope you will assist us by getting the word out to your club membership
and other hams in your community by announcements at club meetings,
newsletters, radio nets or word of mouth.
One of the largest hamfests in the ARRL's Southwestern Division, the Yuma
Hamfest is one of the few multi-day convention-style hamfests held in
Arizona. We feature commercial exhibitors and vendors, tailgating, on-site RV
camping, seminars held in parallel tracks in two separate buildings, amateur
license testing, DXCC card checking, the famous Buzzard BBQ dinner, a huge
grand prize drawing, great hourly door prizes, a hospitality area, the
"Country Store" consignment sales area, and much more. Last year Icom, Yaesu
and HRO were among the vendors who exhibited. This year,we hope the show
will be even larger.
Unlike many conventions, admission is only $1, tailgating spots are $20
for the weekend, and the dinner catered by Famous Dave's BBQ is $10. We are
giving away a netbook computer as a registration prize to someone just for
coming to the hamfest. You should mark the third weekend of February on
your calendar and plan on attending the Yuma Hamfest!
The grand prizes this year total about $5000:
Kenwood TS-590S
Icom IC-7000
Kenwood TM-D710A mobile rig
Icom ID-880H
Kenwood TH-D72A
Yaesu VX-8GR
Icom IC-80AD
