That's not too bad an idea.  K0WA (another  b i g  Lee) tells about
working all states east of KS as a Novice but being shy on west ones.
Turned out his low dipole was parallel to and ~ 1/2 wave east of a power
line.  I think he made adjustments and filled in the WAS map...

I only managed 10 countries on my inv L in this test.  If I got a separate
rx ant I'm sure that would help things.
