The constitution describes several tasks for the VP position, but the
one that stands out in my reading as the core function deals with
ensuring that there exist plans and presentations for each meeting.
I believe Rob is ideally suited for this. And for that reason, I would
like to nominate Rob K0RU for the position of VP for the following
specific reasons.
1. He has a long track record of Elmer service to hams of all stripes
and technical capabilities. Quite a few guys in our club have amps
running, antennas up and other things like RTTY sound card connections
(for example) going thanks to Rob.
2. He has a formal education background from his time in the military.
This means he knows what it takes to pull off a smooth presentation and
will help others with the task. Much of the club's renewed interest, in
my opinion, is due to the expansion of the format to include the various
presentations. When elected, Rob will help us take that to the next
level.
3. In the past Rob has expressed interest in serving in some capacity
that involves education and information services. He's not a political
or self-promoting guy generally speaking - and so while we may need to
twist his arm to being a board member - if it were simply for the sake
of being a board member, by viewing this position and it's
constitutionally defined emphasis on educational/informational content -
this position seems a perfect fit with Rob's skill set - and it's one I
am sure that Rob would be willing to undertake if the membership asked.
4. Rob is an active ham - and while being probably the best CW op I
know, he is a true multi-band, multi-mode guy with personal interests
that cover a wide variety of the hobby aspects - both in operation and
on the home-brew/hardware side where antennas are just one of his
passions. Being multi-facetted in interest and actively involved means
the quality of our club meeting content will be rich and varied -
drawing the interest of hams from all areas of the hobby.
For these reasons, please accept for the clubs consideration this
nomination. 73/jeff/ac0c
