After tuning the band for awhile hoping to catch someone calling CQ in the noise
you know, before the coast latches on and spots them and ends my chance,
Sometimes, I think I might just hear some CW barely in the noise on 160m.
Only to find that when when I tune the VFO the tone doesn't change.
It is...
Just me?
Last week I listened to one of these signals "in the noise" for
awhile. Decide Ok it's real.
Copy i0k?W CQ CQ. No need Italy, But Then after awhile got GI0KOW
calling CQ and came up quickly to fair copy. The call really sounded
familiar and I guess I had in my mind
I already had worked, so typed in quick to DXBase and I "thought" came
up as worked so went on tuning,
Started bugging me, so only to shortly realize the screen displayed
many bands but not 160m.
Tune back. Big pileup east coast and no longer copied the station anyhow.
Right now our sunset East coast spots OX, ON, OZ, EI, S5!, RZ, F6, ZB and
not a peep here. Fair pileups on every single one!
I am a bonehead and
160m is hard
