An amateur radio expedition will be active from Suwarrow National Park, Suwarrow (aka Suvorov) Atoll, Cook Islands (northern group), OC-080.

Suwarrow (13 16'S, 163 06'W.) is an atoll that lies approximately 515 nautical miles NW of Rarotonga; it consists of several wooded islets lying on a barrier reef which encloses a lagoon.

Suwarrow is a National Park in the Cook Islands. Yachts transitting the Cook Islands in the southern Pacific ocean are invited to call here in lieu of a formal 'port of entry' and for remitting an entrance fee are welcome to enjoy the lagoon.

Permission for a land-based radio expedition was granted by the warden responsible for protecting the natural resources located here. The temporary station is located on Anchorage Island, once home to New Zealander Tom Neale who published an account of his experience here entitled, "An Island to Oneself".

For the purposes of the "Islands on the Air" award programme, Suwarrow's islets count as OC-080.

Two operators will share a single transmitter beginning, 11 May 2007 and intend to remain on-the-air for at least 10 days.

Listen for E51QMA and E51TUG on CW and SSB. The temporary station is expected to be QRV on the amateur bands, 40M - 10M.

Requests for QSL cards should be directed to the QSL manager, OM2SA. QSO data will also be submitted to the ARRL "Logbook of the World".

Please pass/post this information where interested persons are likely to find it useful.
