[KCDXC] Cold Solder

I received a  Coleman 'Cold Solder' device for Fathers Day and it appears to 
work well on wires but,  the tip is two electrodes, they are placed on both 
sides and touching the wire to be soldered, a current passes across the wire 
heating it enough to melt the solder (461 F for 60/40).  I shudder to think 
what this current could do to some solid state devices.  It operates on four 
AA batteries.
