First, hello to all my friends in the KCDXC club and hope everyone had a
wonderful Thanksgiving.
As I s-l-o-w-l-y go about getting back into radioing in a "big-time" way, I
often find myself at a loss in knowing which products are the best for my
application. One area in which the products seem to be numerous are the
"logging" programs with radio control, etc.
Seems like there are so, so many of them. I would like a package that
contains a good logging program, radio control, contest logging formatted
for all the popular contests, that uses a database format allowing me to
search logs any way I want, etc. My radios right now are the IC-756 Pro and
a IC-706MKIIG. I'm mainly interested in interfacing with the PRO not so
much the 706.
The reviews on "AC Log by N3FJP" are quite high. I would like to have
opinions from anyone about the software they use and especially if you are
using AC Log.
Just a side note: Since Fred wouldn't return the KT-34A I practically gave
him back in 1983 ;-), I had to search high-and-low for another one (a little
drama never hurts.) I found a used KT-34XA (6 el. on a 32 foot boom), in
northern Arkansas (I'm sure that will bring a few comments) in excellent
shape and with all the mods and updates. It will go atop one of the towers,
hopefully, this winter.
On an operating note: I jumped in and worked some SS Phone last weekend. A
little tough with 100 watts and a Butternut vertical but still had fun.
This was the first SS since, let's see, 1983. Holly shit that was over 20
years ago. I listened for Missouri and Kansas but worked only one station in
KS., KA0BHO.
Thanks for the bandwidth and 73,
Jim
