Wade,

In the 60's, I was acutely aware that the Technician class hams that I
associated with, were in many cases, more "professional" than many
General class hams in technical ability and operating practices. This
gave me the opinion that the code was not usefull in keeping people
out of the hobby, who were "undisireable", as I also knew a few 20WPM
Extras that should never be allowed on the air. This has not changed.

I have always been proficient at CW and will remain a CW operator
until I am a silent key, but I don't feel that it should prevent
qualified individuals from joining our ranks. Let's try to bring them
along and teach them the mode after they get licensed. Add a few
questions on the test about CW, but don't let it be a failure point.

CW forever, but not to exclude quality individuals from participating
in our great hobby.
