Subject: [amsat-bb] Dx-Pedition to 3B9 (Rogrigues)

Hello Group.

March / April 2004 will see a major Dx-pedition to Rodrigues in the Indian
Ocean which will include a dedicated station set up for Satellite and EME.

The dates for the trip are mid March to April 15th 2004. The satellite
operation is anticipated for the final two weeks from March 31 to April
13th.

Call will be 3B9C

The organising group is the "Five Star Dxers Association" who in 2001 made
168,000 QSOs on HF / 6m from The Comoros Islands as D68C.

The Satellite / EME station includes 4 x 19 ele F9FT yagis on 70cms and
Az/El rotators.
The radio will be an FT847 provided by Yaesu who are the principal sponsors
of the Expedition. Yaesu are also providing 10 x 1kW stations for other
bands.

The path to the USA from 3B9 on AO-40 is limited and it will be important to
find the right location. Those final few degrees down to the horizon will
be very important.

A web site for the dx-pedition is available at:

www.fsdxa.com/3b9

At present the satellite page contains my 'brief' to the two members of the
team who have been to 3B9 to survey the location and arrange the licence.
The page will be updated after all the hard work of testing the equipment
and packing the container has been completed.
