This is from WV0S discussing a new repeater. Although
we DX, I thought is might be of interest as it seems
to reach the Kansas City area.

Subject: Re: Repeater Assistance Needed
Hey Rob!
Seems like when I see repeater, Kansas and great
heights come together you are somehow involved.
So how did you pick Louisburg area? That is
considerably south of KC...I think that is Miami
County, isn't it? I know there has been a population
growth down that way, are there many hams there?
What is the range of that repeater? I have been
listening to the KC, KS and Leavenworth repeaters busy
with the storm spotting. KC, KS is sporadic.
Leavenworth I can trip but rare for me to get
through intelligibly (no comments, thanks).
I'm not familiar with 6 meter repeaters at all.

Hi Jim (and the rest on here):
The main reason we picked the Louisburg area (or any
other area for a repeater, for that matter) is we had
the opportunity to go up 400' on a tower, and put up 6
meters, 2 meters and 440....so we jumped at the
chance. We had a 460' run of BRAND NEW 1 5/8"
hardline donated to the cause, so the loss will be
small. We installed two Decibel loop antennas for 6
meters, a DB 420 for UHF and a DB 224 for VHF
(all commercial grade antennas), then we used a
triplexer at the top and bottom to split out the
signals. It's a pretty neat setup!
The Louisburg machine covers mobile almost down to
Nevada, MO (on the Missouri side) and almost down to
Fort Scott (on the Kansas side).
It provides nice mobile coverage into the Johnson
County (Olathe, Edgerton, Overland Park...) area...and
seems to be filling in a nice coverage area.
I believe this evening, Brian, KC0BS is going to put
up a 100+ watt VHF repeater grade amplifier that the
usage was donated to us by Bryon, K0BSJ. Since the
147.315 is only putting out 20 watts, that should help
a lot!
I can also hear the Louisburg 315 repeater usually
between S7 and 20 over at my house in SE Topeka. The
six meter machine goes from not copy able to S7.
Well, I've got to run for now.
Thanks for the interest and support--it's GREATLY
appreciated!
I received enough donations to almost cover the
DigiKey order (just $40 short), so that is pretty
good.
Have a wonderful weekend and best 73,
Rob - WV0S
