ARRL 160 SSB
KI7WO Low power
Single Op

Well, this has been a busy winter. This is my 8th contest log submitted
in the past 90 days. I certainly agree with the previous statements about
the noise Friday night. Was able to make a few contacts though I have
never heard "again again?" so many times in my life.

When Alex & I tuned the 160 antenna we set it for the low end of the band
which made operating towards the top end of the band difficult. The
internal tuner REFUSED to tune above 1.900, so had to augment the setup
with an external tuner which made repeated adjustments necessary as I
worked up the band each time.

139 Q's
314 Qso Points
46 Mults
Score 14,444

Was happy to work 40 States on 160 SSB, though much more difficult than
on CW. Best local catch was AA0MZ, and best DX catch was KV4FZ.
Certainly didn't get into the log early but after all the "Big Dogs" had
finished fighting with each other to be "first" I went back & made the Q.

Seemed funny that the States that I couldn't find in the 160 CW contests
were very easy to work in the SSB - ND, RI, ID, NV and the ones that I
didn't expect to have any trouble working I didn't hear at all FL, GA VT,
NH.

CU in the next one,
