I did not seriously participate in the 160 Meter contest like I have in the
last couple of years. I figured I would just get blown out by Tom AE9B or
Charlie N0TT. I just concentrated on working the DX stations that popped
up. I only have a Alpha Delta DX-A sloper hung off the tower at about 35
feet. I do have an amplifier that can put out 1500 Watts. I managed to
work the following:
OK1AEZ, ON4UN, T32WW, F5VHY, NP4Z, J8DX, PJ2T, TI5A, ZF2NT, and a few VEs.
I did monitor N0TT and AE9B since they had such big signals over at my
house. I could copy Charlie's key click over a 1000 Hertz on either side.
Tom normally would blow me out with clicks from his MP, but this year his
signal was pretty good. I talked to him about it today and he said he
modified the radio. Good job Tom! I wonder if my 775DSP or 756PROII
generate clicks? If so, I need to do the modification to reduce the sharp
rise and fall time on the cw waveform. Perhaps one of you guys could check
my signal some night to let me know.
