KCDXC reflectorees,
I sent the following message to a number of hams who have actively been
involved in contesting (from the list I showed).
I have recieved a few replies from it mostly good and anticipate that we may
be getting a few new members. Now I'm not embarrassed by most of the guys
but I might suggest that the group be open to new members if they happen to
show up at the meetings. At least a few of our recent members (including me
a couple years ago) was not exactly sure about the reception. I think the
club as a whole has come a long way in this area, particularly Tom Rose (who
has invited guys to his home). I'm not asking for a standing ovation for the
new guys but at least a handshake and brief conversation of interest.

One such guy is
WB0YJT JOHN G WALLIS TOPEKA KS
Who writes:"Thanks for the invite I will be sending my cheque with your
membership form
and look forward to attending a few meeting 73 John"

There was some talk about a "Introduction or Welcome package" for new
members.
Some information about the club, the website, club reflector address, packet
node etc. Could someone put a sample together before the next meeting? I'm
not sure if anyone new is going to show up but as we have discussed, without
some new blood, we are all going to just fade away.

Here's the blurb I sent out to a couple dozen guys:

"am writing this message because we are beginning contest season, and I have
noticed that you have entered contests in the past. I'm not sure if you're
affiliated with any clubs, but wish to let you know of the Kansas City DX
Club. We are an established club which has had a history of contesting and
is beginning to revive a history of successful club competition. We wish to
invite you to become a member of the KCDXC. We have monthly meetings, a web
site and a club reflector to keep in touch. You can learn more about the
club at http:www.qsl.net/kcdxc. As the sunspot cycle begins to degrade it
will actually benefit those of us in the center of the U.S. According to the

ARRL rules club members must be in good standing and live within 175 Mile
Radius of the clubs center. In Local club competition, the entries must live
within a 35 mile radius. I have checked and you appear to meet one or more
of those criteria. Please E-Mail me with your intentions. I am truly
interested in having you join our team.
