I have been in contact with Dan Henderson of the ARRL and we are in
agreement that we do not want to violate any rules or even the intent of the
rules. With a few more possible entries in the 160M contest, I am wondering
if we have any members in the North or NorthEast Quadrant of KC. Up around
Excelsior? N0AG has said he would like to help with the 160M contest. If we
keep the circle "centered" on KC he would be out of the circle. I have
noticed that we seem to have a majority of active contest participants
generally in the southern part of the KC metro. This would include the area
around Hilsdale Lake, Paola, Wellsville, Edgerton. If we center on 435 and
Metcalf, we could include Oak Grove (in case Allan gets a tower erected) and
Lone to the East, Not quite to Drexel to the south, Leavenworth to the N-W,
not quite to Tracy, Beverly or Smithville to the North, it includes, Liberty
and Missouri City. Does anyone have any ideas, objections, opinion about
this radius? I recognize that the club used to be Medium category but we
have consolidated a little since those days. One reason may have been the
location of Jerry Fischers Mega station. In order to keep that (and the
members in the KC metro) in the circle the club would have to expand to 175
mile rdius and Medium Category. There's nothing embarrassing or degrading
about entering a local club competition, we have to play be the same rules
as everyone else. A sour club expands, beyonf the 35 mile radius (I hope it
does some day) or has more than 10 members entering the competition, we can
expand into the medium category again. For now we have an opportunity to
compete at the local category and I think a good chance to win. What do you
think?
