Please post this to the KCDXC reflector for me. I'm not on the list to be
able to post.
Thanks,
Gary

What an awful and terrible shock! Dan was a great guy and truly a "ham's
ham". He lived back in the woods in a REAL ham shack with REALLY BIG
towers all around. He was state number 50 and the last zone for many an 80
and 160 meter DXer. I last saw Dan in 1999 when my my family and I
vacationed in Alaska. I spent part of an afternoon with Dan and Chris,
WL7KY (now KL9A), trying to stay out of their way as they did some "minor
antenna work". Putting up a bigger 80 meter beam as I remember.
Everything Dan did he did BIG. Always a gentleman even in the busiest
contests and pileups. He was always willing to schedule anyone that asked.
I referred many to him that needed KL7 on 80/160. Even though it usually
meant getting up at 3 AM, he never said no. A photo my wife took of Dan,
Chris and me is shown at "Day six" of the Web page I did of our 1999 trip:
http://www.w0tm.com/alaska.htm.

Dan will be missed by all. What a tragic, tragic loss.

Gary, W0TM

Just got this from PVRC----very depressing and devastating news. KL7Y was
one of the nicest hams I ever ran across on the air and he was most helpful
to me years ago when I started contesting.
