Dear Sirs,
a multinational dx-pedition of 10 operators will activate the rare country of myanmar in August 2002.
Well known team members will come from Germany, Italy, Laos and Indonesia.
We plan a 3 week activation from different places at Myanmar including a totally new IOTA AS-"NEW"
from the never activated Arrakan Group.
There will be up to 4 stations working at the same time on all main modes and frequencies between 160 - 6 m.
All will make use of efficient equipment and antenna systems to generate a high number of qso`s.
We would like to ask you for your friendly support on our dx-pedition and would be very thankful for your answer and any help.
Thank you very much in advance !
With best regards
Frank Rosenkranz, DL4KQ

Budget:
Transportation costs to Yangon (International): 12,200 $
Accomodation in Myanmar incl. domestic flights: 10,500 $
Gasoline costs for 26 kVA and 30 kVA Generators: 500 $ (asked by lodge, because of extra voltage)
Trip of YB0US to Yangon/Ngapali: 800 $ (final conference with ministries, checking situation at Ngapali and Apaw-Ye Kyun Island)
Additional costs: 4,450 $ transport of lent equipment (400 $), license fee (1,500 $), qsl print (750 $), preparing costs as faxes, documents (600 $), material costs as buying coax, feeder wire lines, masts, transport etc. (1200 $),
Total: 28,450 US $
All group members agreed in a personal amount of 2500 $ when starting in expedition plans. (9 x 2500 $ = 22,500 $)
This calculation based on hope to get transportation help by airline and help by additional sponsors.
Finally there is no help by THAI Airways, only a little number of sponsors is willing to support the plans. Permit for operation is granted only when making use of tour package from Myanmar Ministry of Hotels and Tourism including the support of an accompanying liaison officer. Costs start to explode.
Now we have a difference in budget (28,450 $ 22,500 $) of up to 6,000 US $.
We still hope to minimize this with help of sponsors. Also some operators are willing to spent more money than the planned 2,500 $. Some will not be able to do this. Finally there still may be a difference of 4000 $ and we may be forced to reduce costs (minimizing equipment, transport costs) which would of course lower qso rates.
To keep the dx-pedition as successful as possible we ask you for support.
Any help would be very welcome !
