I read this fast, but here are a few thoughts from my head.
1. This was the first in the past 5 years where no tapes were available.
2. I forgot to print the new membership form that was supplied by N0UF
3. This was the first year where the club didn't have rooms at Crown Plaza
4. Shirts were used 12 years ago, but there were different ideas about what
kind of shirt to wear. Some members would not wear the shirt that was
bought. I still have 3 at my home.
5. Rick KB0U
My idea is to call the Crown Plaza and ask for suite 525 and the two side
rooms 529 and 521 and the double room across the hall 526 I think. Maybe ask
for the room by the ice machine too 521. that would get us started. We have
to call before June 15.

A tremendous job and plenty of thanks for the KCDXC suite where CW operators
flock to.
By far the most enjoyable suite at the Crowne Center. (Hooters ranks 1st
overall)
W0VBU (Bill) kudos for your efforts in the pile up coordination
N0SS (Tom) thanks for a great tape
KD0FW (Mike) good job on the other end of the pile. CW SUCKS? (that threw a
few)
A few comments and suggestions:
This first one was brought up at the last meeting..
1- We should have Pile up CD's ready for sale at the SUITE (no questions
asked it would have sold) $ for the club!
2- We should have had membership forms available at the SUITE (I was
embarrassed when asked by the father of a Kansas City youngster "where can I
sign up?")
We should have had some forms... we would have had at least a few new
memberships I sure.
3- Just an idea.. for guys like Marty (NW0L) and Mike (KD0FW)(never knew
they had similarities huh.) who hate code..have an SSB pileup contest.
Combine the SSB, and CW contests for an "overall winner"
4- Just an idea... provide laptops with the "answer form" already on it. Had
several comments about "reality" of doing it on paper. (If this goes over
well.. it could be easily taught to tally the right answers saving a bunch
of time and effort). Extremely cheap computers (preferably Laptops) can
probably be donated by someone.
5- Get some rooms at the Crowne Plaza hotel. I have tried for a couple years
and know it's tough.. but I think there's some interest and I know we'd have
no problem selling them.
6- Have shirts and club badges with club logos. One club offers a package
deal... An embroidered shirt, Badge and E-Mail account for $100.00. I sure
saw a lot of Black Dots. Not a bad idea... If a team that (blanks)
together.... (blanks) together.
I think one of our club goals for this year should be to find a way to get
some new members. In order to do that we have to provide a reason for people
to want to belong. That includes activities, meeting programs, awards,
possessions.
I'm looking forward to our new contest committee men organizing events and
will support them with the following:
I will sponsor a contesting award. The award will be for the full fledged
(paid up) member that makes the most contest contacts for one year. That
includes ALL contests.. ALL MODES SSB, RTTY, CW, stateside, DX, etc. We'll
have to decide how the Multi singles, twos, and multis score for different
OP's
The award will be given the week before Dayton 2003 or at the Dayton Suite.
Submit all totals to me. I'll keep a running total in the newsletter.
Now I have put my money where my mouth is... Anyone else want to step up?
