Well, That has been an interesting exercise.
I'm looking forward to the meeting Monday.
If as much progress is made at this next meeting that was made at the last
meeting, I'd say we're moving in the right direction. Looks like there'll be
plenty of energy.
For the welfare of the individuals and the club, I'll stop and reflect on
all the new information I have. I am aware that many of the club members
have done many things over the course of their time in the KCDXC. But unless
someone asks what those things are.. some of us who are new to the club will
never know. This exercise has proven to me that some people don't want to
disclose the information they do have, some don't want to rock the boat, and
others are just along for the ride. Knowledge is a powerful tool.
Experiences that "elders" have can never be duplicated. But those
experiences (good or bad) can benefit those that follow if those "elders"
are wiling to share their experiences. I hope each of the long time members
will help teach some of the newer members the things they did that were and
were not successful. In that way not only do you continue the KCDXC legacy,
but ham radio as well.

I was hoping there would be a summary of the last meeting somewhere but I
don't think there is.
Perhaps those in attendance can help me recreate that meeting.

1st up (I think) was Zero Bureau news
2nd was Dayton planning and all helpers volunteered
3rd was Contesting
Tom Rose was elected contest chairman, Alex asst. to preceed Tom next year,
I volunteered help.
Discussion followed resulting in the following:
*There used to be small awards for different categories etc. and the group
thought that was benficial. Nobody knew where the awards (traveling awards)
were or why the "tradition" stopped but the recommendation was to recreate
this type of tradition.
*Discussion of which specific contests the club may focus on
*Many of the existing members are too busy to participate in contests or
have found other interests and no longer involved in contesting.
*New members are scarce and ideas to get new members even scarcer. This
discussion eventually lead to the statement that new members need a reason
to want to belong which should include a good meeting program. Programs had
stopped happening some time back but used to be the responsibility of the
Vice-President. An idea of having a contest at Associated was aired and
discussion followed with the conclusion that it was worth trying.

I'm sure I'm missing a bunch of stuff... does anyone have additional
information that can keep this moving forward?
